Department of Epigraphy

         The Department takes up compilation and analysis of Epigraphs available in Karnataka and Kannada epigraphs available elsewhere. The department has compiled and bringing out volumes related to epigraphs of each district of Karnataka. Similarly other language epigraphs available in Karnataka have been compiled. It has also published the Kannada epigraphs available in other regions. As epigraphs are important source for reconstructing history or for history or for historical studies, the faculty of the department undertakes projects to glean out historical facts from epigraphs. Apart from compiling and analyzing epigraphs the department runs research programs.
