Department of Studies in Dravidian Culture The Department was functioning as Department of Foreign and Other Indian Languages earlier and since 1998-99 the Department is functioning under the present name. The objective of the Department is to carry out comparative research in the languages, cultures of South India. It also to foster comradeship among South India cultures. The focus of the Department is on Malayalam, Tulu, Tamil and Telugu. Several research projects pertaining to the area have been taken up like the glossary of Indian Poetics, Dravidan multi language Dictionary, Dravidian poetics, Dravidian Cinema etc. The department also runs a journal “Dravida Adhyayana” which aims to act as a platform for people working in Dravidian studies. The department regularly organizes seminars and conferences.
